Establish a workplace wellness committee
Workplace health planning needs to be undertaken in partnership with the workforce. Employees from all levels of staff should be represented on the committee and be actively engaged in the health and management aspects of the programme as well as all on-going workplace health initiatives.
Conduct a staff survey
Assessing and understanding the needs and preferences of all staff is an essential part of the process. If a workplace health promotion programme is going to be successful, it has to reflect what employees consider important, and it has to be recognised that not all staff are interested in the same activities.
There are various ways that staff feedback can be obtained - not everyone is able to, or likes, filling out questionnaires. e.g.
- Informal meetings with employees, management, unions, etc.
- Suggestion Box for employees to give their ideas (real or electronic)
- Saff Survey/Questionnaire
